Beeswax is made by the bees from their 8 wax glands under their abdomen. They use this wax to build their honeycomb and to cap their honey. Beeswax takes a lot of energy for bees to produce and so our beeswax only comes from the wax cappings which must be removed to extract honey. This means the beeswax is fresh and has a warm honey fragrance.

Propolis is a sticky tree resin gathered by honeybees to protect their hive and boost the immune system of the colony. Bees also use it to patch up holes or gaps in the hive and it is also known as Bee Glue. Bees also use propolis to embalm any invaders that are too big to remove so they can not decay in the hive.
Hives with higher amounts of propolis have been shown to have better immunity to diseases and we like to think it makes them happier too! We collect propolis during honey harvesting and inspections to make the hive easier to manage and the bees are quickly able to make more.
